1. The First Burn Is Key
The very first time you light your candle, let it burn long enough for the entire surface of the wax to melt evenly. This usually takes 2 to 3 hours. Why? Because it prevents "tunnelling," where the wax burns down the middle leaving a ring of unmelted wax on the sides. A full melt pool helps your candle burn evenly and last longer.
2. Always Trim the Wick
Before lighting your candle each time, trim the wick to about 5mm (roughly a quarter of an inch). This simple step controls the size of the flame, reduces soot and smoke, and helps your candle burn more cleanly and safely.
3. Mind Your Burn Time
For the best scent and safest experience, avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a stretch. After that, give it a break to cool down and refresh the wax. This helps maintain the fragrance quality and prevents overheating.
